Vermont is a state in the USA 🇺🇸 and it’s known for its glamorous fall foliage and of course it’s many skiing resorts.
So I’d visited Burlington, Vermont in December of 2021 and I’m not a skier ⛷.
Though I had a fabulous time exploring downtown Burlington. There is so much to do in this city. Burlington is the largest city in Vermont.
Here is my 2 days itinerary for Non – Skiers on how I spent my time in Burlington, Vermont that perhaps could be helpful with planning your visit as well!

Day 1: December 12, 2021
🔶Stayed 2 nights at the Hilton Garden Inn located in the heart of Burlington, Vermont
🔷Visited Oakledge Park where I saw the Burlington Earth Clock. It tells the journey of the sun. There is a sundial in the center of the clock. Get this if you stand in the center of the clock on the dotted line of the current month then you can tell what time it is from your shadow. Coolest experience!
🔶Saw the World’s tallest filing Cabinet.
🔷Vermont is known for their breweries. Made a stop at Switchback Brewery. Such an adorable and spacious place. They have both indoor and outdoor seatings. Enjoyed a flight that included Switchback IPA, Connector IPA, Octane Cat Dipa, & their Galaxy Cat Dipa. I’d also ordered a hotdog. My drinks and small bite was $13 USD.
🔶Explored Church Street in Burlington, Vermont where I had a nice dinner at Seawaters Bistro. I’d enjoyed some crunchy salmon tacos and a craft beer. My meal was under $20 USD. It was a pleasant and welcoming place to dine especially for a solo female traveler.
🔷 Ben & Jerry’s ice cream originated in Vermont. However, I did not make it to their factory to take a tour and see how they make ice cream, that would have been fun. Instead, I had a chocolate fudge ice cream on a sugar cone at their shop on Church Street. Such a delightful way to end my 1st day of adventure in Burlington, Vermont.

Day 2: December 13, 2021
🔶Had some delicious breakfast at Denny’s restaurant. Denny’s is this American Diner. They served excellent and have affordable food options. The folks here are so friendly.
🔷Initially I’d wanted to explore the Ethan Allen Homestead Museum, but it was closed. All good though so instead I hiked 3 miles throughout the Ethan Allen Estate. They have several historical mini hiking trails.
At 1st I was a bit nervous cause I don’t do well with hiking solo, but I had my selfie 🤳 stick handy to protect me. 😎 Hiking is a hobby I’d liked to get better at in Year 2022.
This place was totally safe and extremely muddy. This is something I want to program myself to get use to so I can appreciate hiking more going forward.
🔶Tried some chocolate tasting and bought some chocolate from Lake Champlain. They are located on Church Street in Burlington, Vermont.
🔷 And I went on a tea journey at Dobra Tea; they are located in the heart of Church Street in Burlington, Vermont. I so badly want to explore Sri Lanka in the future so this was my opportunity to try some Ceylon Adam’s Peak and Ceylon’s Tiger River tea.
I’d asked if I could have one mug of each type of tea serve in two half sized kinda tea pots. Them folks here were accommodating and my ask was fulfilled.
My favorite was the Ceylon Tiger River tea. The smell got me blown away, thought the monsoon wind had me for a second. I’d enjoyed how the after taste left my tongue super dry. I’d taken tiny sips in the beginning to taste the strong bitterness of the Ceylon and it was beautiful. I was able to taste it pretty well cause I drank my tea without sugar and milk.
🔶And I found the Street Art which is scattered throughout Church Street if you get lost on the side streets. They are gorgeous. You can even see the sunset by Dobra Tea store.
🔷Ended the night by having two Cajun chicken tacos and a few craft beer at Ruben James restaurant located about two blocks from my hotel. They have excellent food and an affordable menu option. Plus great vibes.
