2019 – Day trip to Melbourne, Australia

How to plan a day trip from Sydney to Melbourne?

If you are visiting Sydney for a few days and want to venture out for a day trip to Melbourne then I’d highly recommend it. I feel as though it’s the best way to get a taste of what the Central Business District of Melbourne offers. Also, if you happen to be a coffee or art lover then I think you should definitely consider exploring Melbourne for a day then perhaps you can decide if you would like to spend more time there in the future.

From my research, there seem to be a number of ways to get to Melbourne from Sydney. It appears as though the cheapest route would be either to take the bus or do a road trip, however, the ride could take about 7 to 8 hours or so depending on many stops are on the way to your destination.

Now considering time is an essence, then I’d recommend flying there which is a bit pricier, however you would be saving a lot of time with traveling and you can have a more productive and enjoyable day trip. This is actually the route I took since I was only going to be in Sydney for 6 days, therefore, I wanted to ensure I was able to invest pretty much most of my time and energy sighting seeing and getting a taste of the Aussie experience to the fullest.

As a budget traveler, I always think it’s a really smart idea to plan your trip in advance so can go about getting the full value of your money.

Since I’m a full time employee, I’d requested time off from work around February 11, 2019 and as soon as my days were approved I’d immediately booked my flights. This gave me a good amount of time to plan ahead and score some good deals.

My day trip from Sydney to Melbourne was on Wednesday , March 20, 2019.
