4 Full Days in Egypt

Here is my 4 days itinerary in Egypt that may help you with planning your trip.

Visiting Cairo, Egypt has always been a dream of mine. I’m flipping in love with the Pyramid of Giza, Sphinx, Nile River and Egyptian museum. Everything about Ancient Egypt speaks volume and makes me want to learn more.

And I book my tour through @egypt_wonderful_tours. DM them on Instagram. They have affordable tours!

Day 1: March 15, 2021

🔶Flew into Cairo on March 14, 2021 at 11:30 PM EST.

🔷Stayed at the Cairo Inn, which is about 19 minutes from the airport. I’m overlooking the Tahrir Square – a very controversial square for protesting.

🔶Took a day trip to the Pyramid of Giza – the oldest ancient product left of the 7 Wonders of the World. Did a camel ride for 2 hours.

🔷Kissed the Sphinx. I’m crazy about him. He’s so unique.

🔶Made bread with one of the Egyptian local. Om Mahmoud has a beautiful heart. She can cook too.

🔷Had Egyptian chicken kabobs with green peppers.

🔶Made my way into King Djoser tomb.

🔷 Run towards the step pyramid of Djoser. The oldest pyramid in the world. Loved how the sand made its way into my sneakers and stuck between my toes – it felt like silk touching my feet.

🔶Learned about and briefly how to make silk carpets. It’s tough work.

🔷Had a dinner cruise in the Niles River – the longest River in the world that eventually tangled with the Mediterranean Sea.

Day 2: March 16, 2021

🔶Took a Day trip from Cairo to Alexandria. It’s about 3 hours each way driving. I had a private driver and tour guide for less than $100 each day. It included food, transportation, entrance fees and knowledge transfer.

🔷Visited the Fort Qaitbey. It was once the Pharos Lighthouse — one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. It’s located right on the Mediterranean Sea!

🔶Visited the world’s largest Catacombs of Kom el-Shuqqafa. It was accidentally founded when a donkey fell into it.

🔷Visited the Pompey’s Pillar. It used to store books for the Great Library of Alexandria (I couldn’t see the library due to COVID).

🔶Posed for a pic with one of the World’s oldest Cable train. This is how the locals get around here.

🔷Hung with the locals in Alexandria and ate street food.

Fort Qaitbey

Day 3: March 17, 2021

🔶Took a boat ride in the Nile Delta; the largest delta in the world. It’s also where the Nile River drained into the Mediterranean sea.

🔷Also drank some water from the Nile River. It’s supposed to be good for you. This is how the locals survive outside of the city. It tasted good.

🔶Visited Banana island to see where the bananas grow.

🔷Eid one of the guys from the hotel I’m staying at and now my Egyptian brother took me to his village for an authentic Egyptian lunch. I spent the afternoon with him and his family.

🔶Because I’m obsessed with the Giza and Sphinx I went again to see a night show. I was inspired by one of the James Bond movies to visit in the light.

Day 3: March 18, 2021

Final Day in Egypt.

🔶Spent the morning at the Citadel & at Mohammed Ali’s (not the boxer) Mosque. Observed how the Muslim prayed. They pray here 5 times a day and you can hear them chanting in the entire city for a few minutes. It’s a daily routine for them.

🔷Spent 6 hours at the Egyptian museum. The best Museum I have visited in the world. Egypt will soon open a new museum soon, which will be labeled as the world’s largest museum.

🔶Bought a few books to learn more about the Islam culture.

🔷Had Shawarma for lunch – an authentic sandwich here in Egypt.

🔶Had an early dinner called Kushari. It’s a National and inexpensive meal. So it’s a combination of rice, noodles, macaroni, spices and garlic sauce all mixed together.

🔷Chatted with my host Eid before I left for my flight.
