I’d visited Copenhagen in particular cause I wanted to explore it’s Viking age history as well as explored it’s beautiful culture.
I’d traveled solo to Copenhagen and it resulted in an educational and inspiring traveling experience.
Here is my 3 days itinerary on how I spent my time in Copenhagen that perhaps could be helpful with planning your visit as well!
Day 1: September 26, 2022
🔶Flew into CPH-Kastrup International Airport in Copenhagen, Denmark at 12:10 PM.
🔷Didn’t have to go through immigration since I was flying from Lisbon, Portugal and had already went through custom there.
🔶Stayed 2 nights at Hotel Mayfair located in the ❤️of downtown Copenhagen, Denmark. Loved this hotel. It’s walking distance to literally all the museums, cathedrals, stores, cafes, bookstores and it’s surrounded by restaurants. Not to mentioned tons of street vendors are all over in the street. And most importantly the central train station is like 3 minutes walking distance from the hotel. Stay away from the cabs…too expensive.
🔷Booked an afternoon free tour through Guruwalk to explore the Christianshavn neighborhood in Copenhagen. This community is a self growing community with its own rules, laws and currency. Very different from the rest of the Danish community. Actually this community turned 50 years old on September 26, 2022; the day I’d visited. They had a really cool concert to celebrate its birthday.
I’d toured with Guruwalk with a local Danish tour guide on the outer part of the Christianshavn community, but they don’t take you inside. Tours are not allowed inside of the community. However, our tour guide had educated us graciously on how to explore and things not to do so we are in alignment with the community’s expectation…like I said it’s very different from the rest of neighborhoods in Copenhagen. Your guide will give you the layout before entering into the community.
It was nice to go with a group of six other travelers I’d met through Guruwalk. I’d met travelers from Finland, Israel, Poland and London/Australia. Such awesomeness!
🔶 📍I and six other adventurous travelers I’d met through Guruwalk climbed the Our Saviour’s Church located in the ❤️ of downtown Copenhagen. The climb is worth it if you are looking for the most stunning 🤩 360 degrees view of beautiful Copenhagen and a tiny winey bit of Sweden 🇸🇪.
So there are 400 steps from the ground up to the🔝 and the last 150 steps are outside on the spiral…it’s totally safe though…! I’d made it to step 359…I was a bit too chunky to go through the hole to reach the final step…🤣…I touched it though…lol!!!…
🔷 I and 2 other solo travelers I’d met through Guruwalk explored the below 3 historical sites in fancy downtown Copenhagen. We’d walked about 7 miles and used google map as our walking pilot…
📍1. Nyhavn – it’s filled with beautiful colorful houses, loads of restaurants/bars/cafes, sailboats & a cute canal. Danish Author Hans Christian Andersen once lived here. I ❤️ his books sooo much!!!

📍2. Amalienborg Palace – The Danish Royal family live here. We’d walked to the center of the square…easy access..the Danish peeps are trustworthy! Queen Margarethe resides here in the warmer months…Oh yeah…stay a bit longer and watch the changing guards self direct ceremony..snap a selfie 🤳 with one of them…bahaha!!!
📍3. The Little Mermaid statue – Oh, how I’d fancy Ariel from the Little Mermaid 🧜🏾♀️ movie, Broadway show and story telling books growing up. Brings back childhood memories…
🔶Finally made it to Tivoli food court and had a yummy Indian dinner. How nice to end such a memorable and adventurous day with sweet travelers around the world.
Day 2: September 27, 2022
🔶Booked a day tour with Viator to explore the Kronborg’s Castle located in Helsingør, Denmark 🇩🇰 and two cities in Sweden. My tour costed about $150 USD. Totally worth it considering taxi prices are expensive in Copenhagen.
🔷If you are as obsessed with William Shakespeare’s work as I am then OMG you have to visit Kronborg’s Castle if /when in Denmark.
🔶This is the real castle in the setting of Shakespeare’s play Hamlet. But get this in the play/book the castle was referred to as Elsinore as opposed to Kronborg.
🔷And what’s interesting is that Prince Hamlet never lived in this castle since the play was fictitious. And ummh Shakespeare never visited this castle..I’m curious as to know why he’d referenced this castle in Hamlet. He’d probably had some good researchers.
🔶So I’d did a self tour of the castle 🏰 only focusing on the three rooms filled with the most attractive tapestries I’d ever laid eyes on. And I’d also spent some time in the puzzle room under the impression that Prince Hamlet’s Ghost was watching my moves…😂

🔷I’d also like to express that you can get a juicy view of Kronborg’s castle on the ferry that’d take you to Sweden.
🔶Had Asian dinner in Copenhagen. I’d like to note that there are a ton of diverse selection of restaurants in Copenhagen.

Day 3: September 28, 2022
🔶Booked a 1/2 day tour through Viator to explore Southern Zealand, Denmark 🇩🇰. My tour guide was Vinod from @tiptop_tours (this is his Instagram account). I’d traveled to Camp Adventure to climb the Forest 🌳 Tower located outside of Copenhagen.

🔷Ummh so the Forest Tower and the Vessel in NYC are like identical twins. They look so much alike…It’s just that the Forest Tower is surrounded by loads of trees/nature and it’s step free.
🔶It’s a 650 spiral 🌀 ramp that takes you from the bottom of the tower to the top.
🔷This was such a soothing and different experience I’d ever had in Europe. I’d climbed with two other travelers from Italy…they were from Pitigliano, Tuscany.
🔶At the top of the tower I was able to have a sweet bird eye 👁 view of Copenhagen.

🔷I personally find it rewarding when I put time in to play with nature whenever I explore a new city.
🔶After the tour, I was back in Copenhagen and decided to explore Ripley’s Believe It or Not!
🔷I’d particularly wanted to engaged with the Danish Author’s Hans Christian Andersen statue and a few of his worldwide famous fairytales.
🔶I grew up reading two of his fairytales, which are “The Little Mermaid” and “The Little Match Girl.”
🔷I was especially a fan of “The Little Mermaid”, as I learned about the three different worlds (Land, Spiritual and Under the Sea) we as humans can possibly explore.
🔶In case you didn’t know, his statue is also located in Central Park, NYC. I go visit him sometime…
🔷I’d had a yummy late lunch at a Thai Restaurant in the heart of Copenhagen. As mentioned earlier, Copenhagen has loads of Asian restaurants serving delicious food.
🔶Happily visited the Copenhagen Museum. It’s a great way to learn about the Viking Age history to present in Copenhagen. The museum is very engaging as they have these audios and videos in all different languages you can explored. It’s a really excellent museum experience. I honestly should have explored this museum on my 1st day in Copenhagen as opposed to the last day. However, I must admit I was able to connect the dots on what I’d learned throughout my journey in Copenhagen. Oh yeah, Wednesdays are free to visit.

🔷And finally my trip in Copenhagen was coming to an end. I took the train to the airport, which was 30 minutes or so. Get this their trains are electric, so there are no conductors driving the train.
🔶Finally when I was at the airport, I’d tried the famous Copenhagen’s hotdog 🌭, which was so delicious. I’d also tried the popular Danish beer 🍺- Carlsberg beer. And my flight was delayed so I had their Danish pastry. Omg! I’d totally wilded out with exploring food at Copenhagen’s airport.
Thank you for virtually exploring with me.
