I’m absolutely so excited to share my 4 days adventure with my parents in London.
⁉️Why did we visit London
➡️Our birth country Guyana in South America was formerly known as British Guiana.
➡️The British ruled us from 1928 thru 1966; my parents were born into the British Regime in the 1950s.
➡️My parents have joyful memories of the British soldiers gifting them the best chocolate, tea bags, toys and great kindness.
➡️They also received the best education from the British Educational System. So I’ve read how disciplined and solid the structure of their educational system is.
FYI, I used Wikipedia for most of my dates. Lol! .
Day 1: June 18, 2023
🔶My parents and I flew from JFK to Heathrow Airport with Delta Airline and arrived at 7:00 AM. Our flight was 6.5 hour.
🔷We took the London Underground/Tube from the airport into the city. We used the visitor’s oysters cards to travel with the tube in London. It’s like a smart/debit card that can be easily used and refilled on our journey. You kinda pay as you go.

🔶We spent three nights at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London hotel. It’s an excellent hotel located in the heart of Westminster district.
➡️This is the area to stay in since all the major point of interests are here from Big Ben, London Eye, Westminster bridge, Thames River, Buckingham Palace, Parliament and much more…
➡️My parents and I stayed in a family hotel room. We loved everything about this hotel. From the food/restaurants, breakfast and the services was amazing. They also have this very savvy cafe on the ground floor.
🔷Since it was early we couldn’t check in so we dropped our bags off and went to Cutty Sark. Cutty Sark is a ship that was built exclusively for the China tea trade. We were supposed to have tea here, but it didn’t work out.
🔶Finally we made it back to the hotel and freshen up. Omg, we were so tired. So we decided to have dinner at one of the French restaurant called Joel in the hotel.

➡️My dad had a Gin – Beefeater from England. Heard it’s a must alcoholic beverage to have here. My mom and I each had a glass of Rosé wine.
➡️For appetizers we had bread with loads of butter and sautéed olives 🫒.

➡️ For dinner, my dad had steak, my mom had chicken and I had fish.
Such a lovely way to end our 1st day in London.
Day 2: June 19, 2023
🔶My parents and I started our day sightseeing in the Westminster district/borough.
🔷We’d walked over the Westminster bridge and got excited as Big Ben/Elizabeth Tower clock chimed at every hour. Known as the world’s most famous ⏰. We were literally chimed out for 4 days…🫢
🔶We appreciated the beauty of the House of Parliament. I read the Gunpowder Plot happened here in the 1600s…
🔷We snagged complimentary tickets to ride the London Eye. It’s Europe’s tallest Ferris wheel 🎡 with a tasty view of the city. There are 32 capsules that represents each boroughs in London. It takes 30 minutes to complete one rotation. It doesn’t wiggle though…😂

🔶We snapped a few pics with the iconic red telephone booths..There was a line for this one….think cause Big Ben is in the background. 😊
🔷 It’d only took us 3 years to celebrate. But after 47 years working internationally in the Engineering field, my green eyes papa retired.
Treated him to a Polish Pszeniczniak / Amber Wheat beer 📍@mamuskapolishkitchen.
🔶My parents and I did a 3 hour London Dinner cruise in the Thames River. We had welcomed drinks/champagne, a four course meal, live music and the most purty view of the majestic city of London from late afternoon into the evening.

🔷The sunset beaming on the Thames River as well as simultaneously reflecting on the high end office buildings in the financial district was bling bling ya’ll.
🔶And the Tower Bridge still look youngish or perhaps my vision was a bit blurred from the sparkling yet sophisticated champagne…lol!!!
Day 3: June 20, 2023
🔶My parents and I made it to📍Buckingham Palace. One of the residence of the British Royals.

➡️Can you believe it’s built from oolitic limestone? Like these stones are from the Jurassic period. Haha!
➡️I can now understand why architect John Nash had went above his budget.
🔷I have to say the vibes here screams in depth royalty & British history….the changing of the guards was fascinating too…for a second my family and I thought they were aiming to protect us…😂!
🔶We then visited the London Bridge 🌉 and of course we reminisced about the famous nursery rhyme we’d sang in school in Guyana!
➡️Partial Lyrics👇🏽
London Bridge is falling down,
Falling down, falling down.
London Bridge is falling down,
🔷So so get this…London Bridge was about to collapsed cause the Thames River couldn’t hold its weight…it was then sold to this business dude in Arizona, USA…the original London Bridge is now located in Arizona…😎
🔶 And we said yes to Fish and Chips. But get this the chips are not chips it’s like chunky French fries…what?!!! there me this Guyanese American said it…😂

So I learned that fish was introduced to the British/Briton by the Jewish refugees…
🔷When the world was on locked down and I did not quite know what to do with my free time…I felt adventurous connecting with other travelers around the 🌎 through Instagram. 😝
So I’d virtually met another traveler in London on the Instagram platform and then my parents and I had the opportunity to dine with her at this yummy Thai spot when we were in London.
I’m so thrilled that my Guyanese Papa and your Sri Lankan dad has so much in common. Cheers to die heart cricket fans…let’s go Sri Lanka!!! 😂
Thank you Japan! I felt so fortunate to walk the streets in Japan. My favorite city in Japan is Kyoto. I had a glorious experience in this country and I have met some wonderful Japanese humans. I feel so rich in experience.
Day 4: June 21, 2023
🔶Spent about 4 hours exploring the Egyptian exhibit @britishmuseum was a nice continuation to complete the full story from when I’d visited @egyptian.museum in 2021.
🔷See there are lots of historical Egyptian artifacts the British took from Egypt that lives at the British Museum.
🔶I appreciate this version of King Ramses II statue cause of his mysterious unpolished eyes. And I wonder why his beard was equally attached directly under his chin…😌

🔷Actually was so fascinated by the Gebelein Man mummy. I’d been yearning to learn about his long-held secrets that was discovered through some AI technological assessment on his skeletons.
🔶The famous Rosetta Stone. Omfg! I saw it with my bare eyes. It’s the most thrilling rush one can experience. Like can you believe the Rosetta Stone is really tax-papers/tax receipt…flipping hysterical…the stone is embedded with three different Egyptian languages (Demotic, Hieroglyphs and Egyptian Greek)….it took me 1 hour to find a particular word on the stone with a circle around it…

Thank you for virtually exploring with me.
