4 Days in Iceland Itinerary

I’m absolutely so ecstatic to share my 4 days of adventure in Iceland; the land of fire and ice

Day 1: December 15, 2024

My first stop was at📍the Blue Lagoon; it’s one of the wonder of the 🌎! Its powerful geothermal sea water (70%) and freshwater creates an unforgettable earthly luxury to bathe in. ⁉️Can you guess what percentage of the lagoon is freshwater….

Blue Lagoon

It’s like Mother Nature has successfully married to science and birth chemicals/children that are mineral salt, nutritious algae and natural blue water…

Blue Lagoon

I’d recommend staying here the whole day not just bathing in the lagoon, but exploring the restaurant, mud spa, sauna, chitchat with other wanderlusts/folks on vacation and much more…happily met another awesome woman from the Philippines…

The Vikings adventurous lifestyle tickles my fantasy…so I said why not…let me temporarily live like them after all I was staying in📍Reykjavík for 4 days…history says this is where the Vikings had first settled in Iceland…

Well I don’t quite look like an Icelandic Viking woman; but I was determined to walk on the same soil as them, eat cod fish stew from the Atlantic Ocean, rye bread baked underground in the geothermal heat, buttered fish soup and wash it down with Viking beer – wanted to appreciate Aegir – the Viking beer god and also had some Icelandic glacier coffee…

Viking Beer

FYI; fishing is a big part of the Icelandic culture. Over 9,000 people are fishermen which is in total 5% of the workforce.

Day 2: December 16, 2024

…”Iceland’s beauty is so overwhelming, it’s almost spiritual”; hence that’s another reason why I’d visited…I wanted to experience seeing its beauty as well as feeling it…

Golden’s circle

So I explored the Golden Circle; it’s made up of 186 mile loop; where you have the freedom to explore:👇🏾

🥾Thingvellir National Park – took me 9 hours to hike 20 miles along the Mid Atlantic Ridge – where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates are pulling from each other and much more…

Golden Circle

😬Strokkur geyser erupts within a 2 to 3 minutes interval…it made me nervous and stuff…

💦 Gullfoss waterfall; known for an Icelandic Viking god loosing all his gold here…guess I went treasure hunting…haha!!!

Gullfoss waterfall;

💜 Special shout out to my adventurous Icelander guide for taking care of me..I was also impressed by how the Icelander people are culturally sensitive to other cultures…

After successfully hiking in the snow like an Icelandic Viking; I’d rewarded myself with a 2 hour dip in the Secret Lagoon. Haha! This is one of Iceland’s oldest geothermal pool.

Secret Lagoon

The Icelander people culturally enjoy bathing in public natural hot springs for relaxation and social connection; I find this fascinating. There I met other wanderlusts/folks vacationing from America 🇺🇸 (Montana), Ukraine 🇺🇦, Germany 🇩🇪 and Brazil🇧🇷.

Ended my evening at a Scandinavian restaurant in Reykjavík; feasted on a lamb sandwich served on a piece of newspaper; drank Danish wine and devoured some Skyr (a traditional Icelandic yogurt)…

Skyr yogurt

Day 3: December 17, 2024

Trekked to the South Region so I can experience the black sand beach & felt as though I have arrived in the dragonstone from the Game of Thrones. FYI, black sand is a result of volcanic eruption/lava/rock thingamajig…

Black sand beach

Our earth is filled with such stunning natural waterfalls & I excitedly saw a few throughout my journey in stunning Iceland….

Then devoured some Thai food & Thai iced tea in Reykjavik…

On my last night, I went with others to search for the Northern lights about a hour outside of Reykjavík. It was very unlikely that we would see them since it was super cloudy…so we waited for hours then at 11PM they just suddenly appeared as the color of the sky slowly changed to greenish…a few of us started whistling at them and bam they danced in brightness for us…🥰…⁉️have you experienced this as well…

Northern lights

So I learned that the Northern lights are a result of electrons (electricity stuff) escaping from the sun then colliding with gas like oxygen or nitrogen living in our air that shoots out these magnificent vibrant colors in the sky..phew!!!

🤫I also traveled between North America and Europe by foot and without a passport or visa…⁉️can you guess which two tectonic plates I crossed…

Day 4: December 18, 2024

On my last day in the land of fire and ice, I had a taste of Reykjavík’s Art Museum, take in its unique and authentic scenery one last time and of course had a Viking 🍺 at the airport as I waited for my return flight to my gorgeous home city NYC!

Reykjavík’s Art Museum

takk fyrir (Thank you) for all the incredible Icelandic locals and as well as other folks I met from all over the 🌎 in this fantastic country.

Highly recommend visiting Iceland for its Viking cultural lifestyle and adventurous outdoor natural wonders.
