7 Days in Switzerland Itinerary

I’m absolutely so ecstatic to share my 7 days of adventure in Switzerland with my darling parents.

Day 1: August  30, 2025

Highly recommend taking the high speed train🚅 for traveling on the Geneva & Zürich route; it’s an epic scenic train ride with gravitating Alps mountain view.

We booked tickets 3 months in advance via @omio to get the best deal y’all!

My darling parents and I stayed 3 nights @hotelroyal_geneva. We booked about 6 months in advance to secure a preferred family room. Loved everything about this hotel as it’s located in the heart of Geneva, across the street from the local Tram, one stop away from the main train station, has two restaurants, and close to local pubs, cafes, and eatery.

After checking in; we quenched our thirst at Pub Lord Jim; where we appreciate the low key atmosphere. We tasted Swiss local beer Feldschlösschen, Swiss apero, and Swiss mountain spring ginger ale. Such a nice treat!

Pub Lord Jim

Finally, made it back to the hotel for dinner, which is usually around 7 PM. 🙄! Had a light meal, dessert, more local beer, wine and hot ☕️!

Hotel Royal Geneva

Ended our evening with laughters and Guyanese family traditional storytelling!

Day 2: August  31, 2025

After discovering Switzerland in the Bollywood movie – “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge,” it immediately became the top destination on my parents and I travel goals. We always admire nature and calm sceneries and Switzerland fits perfectly with what we’ve been looking for. The costing can come second 🫣!

Lake Geneva

OMG! Here is a reel of our adventure admiring Jet d’Eau (one of the tallest fountain in the world) on the stunning Lake Geneva for its breathtaking view of the Alps.

Jet d’Eau

Highly recommend taking a boat trip across Lake Geneva not just for the scenic joyride, but it’s most relaxing and enjoyable ways.

Oh Geneva! Oh oh! The second largest city in Switzerland with the world’s largest and longest second hand on an outdoor floral clock. It’s a good representation of the Swiss cultural values of punctuality, reliability, efficiency, and homage to the watch industry there…⏱️

Geneva floral clock

A 10 minute ride on a Ferris wheel with my darling parents was enticing…why though? My papa used to be an engineer so he’s naturally drawn to wheels just spinning in a sky with humans just chilling….

Ferris wheel

A walk on Geneva’s cobblestone while admiring its historical presence and fragrance flowers was so charming…for a second, I thought I was walking on the same cobblestones in my charming NYC neighborhood…

A late lunch was such a treat at Warwick’s hotel. Hi @warwickhotels! Congrats on your First Green Globe certification and sustainable operations.

Haha! My darling parents just casually rubbing a statue cow’s belly was such a Guyanese thang….

Not sure how this is possible, but the trams in Geneva are such an example of punctuality and plus it’s a convenient way of getting around in the city….

Alright, ☕️ and local 🍺 followed by Guyanese storytelling @hotelroyal_geneva was just wonderful!

Day 3: September 1, 2025

Right after crossing Geneva from the south on a local Swiss bus; my darling parents and I entered France in about 1 hour or so. We were only trying to get to the top of Mont Salève, and didn’t realized we were already on the French soil. Duh 😒!!

Mont Salève

The cable car of Mont Salève carries you to an altitude of 1,100 meters in less than 5 minutes as we were told.

The Salève is a mountain of the French Alps and located obviously on the border between Switzerland and France. It overlooks the view of Geneva’s Lake and the Swiss alps on one side and the beautiful French valleys, the countryside with tranquil huge houses and ice capped French alps that reached for the clouds on the other side, it was a moment of losing and rediscovering ourselves….

We made it in time for afternoon tea and snacks at one of its glamorous cafe then there was “heavy rain” as the French would say, “Pleuvoir des cordes”, but the English and American would say…”raining cats and dogs”….

Mont Salève

Would recommend carrying your passport for multiple reasons…🤫

Day 4: September 2, 2025

On the morning of my last day in Geneva, I had 3 hours to explore before checking out of the hotel with my darling parents.

Ahh! A glimpse and selfie with the broken chair or the 3 legged chair…it’s a must to see if you appreciate creative artwork and have a desire to chase the peace and love so hard in our world. The message here is..how devastating impacts can have on human lives around the globe…it’s something to think about…

Broken chair

🚶🏽‍♀️🚶‍♂️Let’s walk for 5 minutes to our next destination…

I then met with one of my work colleague from years ago to explore the medieval stained glass exhibit at the @museearianageneve …highly recommend visiting if you express interest in the intersection of history and art…so remember back in the days folks couldn’t read so the Medieval churches told stories through stained glasses to the illiterate population..this was a way of educating them…

And we appreciate the view of the alps and sipped on coffee in the museum’s cafe…

Yes, we took a pause, reflect and appreciate Mahatma Gandhi statue for his non violence legacy to make the world better. I also learned that Gandhi had once visited Geneva during his journey to champion nonviolence and peace…

Mahatma Gandhi

Thank you Geneva, Switzerland for this lovely dedication to the world’s most global influential and respectful leader in that historical era.

After 3 hours on the train, grüezi (grew-tsee)! (hello!) from breathtaking📍Zurich

My darling parents and I stayed 3 nights @sheratonzurich. We very much appreciate the accommodation.

Sheraton Marriott

Discovering Zurich in 3 days has always been a blissful journey of ours!

We started the experience with a delightful dinner at one of the hotel’s restaurant.

Day 5: September 3, 2025

Switzerland is a peaceful and beautiful country. My darling parents and I so much appreciate Lake Zurich on a boat. The Swiss Alps are dreamy and the Swiss people are so calm/chill! 😘

Lake Zurich

There is a song about Zurich by Max Gustav B. It’s called “Zürich moves me” that pretty much summarizes our experience.

The old town in Zurich is very special with loads of pedestrian paths to explore and places to sip, bond, and appreciate it all..!!!

Old town Zurich

My darling parents and I knew it would be expensive before we went so we collectively did our homework to plan/budget somewhat smartly…

The wages in Switzerland are rewarding, which attracts a lot of foreign workers as well; hence we met loads of folks from Egypt 🇪🇬.

It’s incredible how Switzerland stay neutral and develop its own export high end products…

Highly recommend visiting Switzerland as a destination for vacation .

Day 6: September 4, 2025

Day trip from Zurich to Vaduz is a must considering it’s about two hour on the high speed  train, then a short bus ride to this welcoming and historical city.

Vaduz castle

Day 7: September 5, 2025

My darling parents and I enjoyed a fancy breakfast buffet on our last morning in this charming country before heading to Munich, Germany 🇩🇪.

We love the Swiss culture so much! 💕 Merci/Danke (thank you) Switzerland!
