6 Days in Belize Itinerary

So thrilled to start sharing my 6 days adventure in the jungles of San Ignacio! Why here? Perfect base for Mayan ruins & history.

Day 1: December 16, 2025

5 nights of hillside bliss at Cahal Pech resort kicked off with hammock swings, sunset magic, evening pool dips, Belizean pasta & a local Belikin beer.

Day 2: December 17, 2025

Flying over the Great Blue Hole, Belize’s Barrier Reef — the scale, depth, turquoise blue, and reef patterns makes the imagination go wild. Fun fact: it’s 300 meter wide, 125 meter deep. Dare to dive it or nah?

Day 3: December 18, 2025

Day trip to Guatemala 🇬🇹; started the morning with Guatemalan coffee, walking through the jungle toward the Tikal ruins. The history here is tangible with ancient stones, Mayan games, and rhythms that reminded me of my Guyanese Hindu traditions.

Tikal ruins

The jungle spiritually spoke around me – howler monkeys calling, wildlife chilling in the trees. I paused often, taking it all in and collecting small teardrops in the palm of my right hand with appreciation. Crossing back into Belize, I felt accomplished, carrying with me historical stories, cultural lessons, and quiet moments I won’t forget about the Mayan culture.

Day 4: December 19, 2025

The climb at Xunantunich ruin is worth every step. The steep stairs slow you down, letting you feel the history beneath your feet. What starts as a physical climb becomes spiritual, each step drawing you closer to the ancient energy of the site.

Along the way, iguanas in different colors appear among the ruins like quiet guardians.

Preserved through generations and studied by archaeologists from as far as Germany who came to Belize to educate local communities, this place feels deeply alive. At the top, the view makes you pause longer than just to catch your breath.

Can’t leave Belize without a little piece of its magic so souvenirs are a must!!

Day 5: December 20, 2025

Exploring the Caracol Mayan ruins in Belize’s Chiquibul Forest Reserve with curious travelers from Iceland and a retired American professor from the University of Houston was such an amazing experience; history really comes alive here!

Caracol Mayan ruins

I spotted toucans that reminded me of the one on the Froot Loops cereal box I used to eat as a kid in NYC. And watched tiny ants working together to carry leaves. Howler monkeys called from the trees, birds were everywhere, and walking along the ancient Maya stone roads, I could see how clever the Mayan water systems were. It’s a place where people, nature, and history come together in the most inspiring way.

Day 6: December 21, 2025

Grateful for an unforgettable Belize vacation 🇧🇿💫! Thanks to everyone who traveled with me virtually.

I’m fascinated by the Mayan culture and their spirituality, gods, advanced astronomy, mathematics (zero!), and calendar systems long before modern tools and advanced technology.

Local Belizean

Learning about Belize’s small Indo-Belizean community made the trip even more meaningful. Belize and Guyana (my birth country) share a similar history, and it was beautiful to see this culture preserved alongside the Mayan heritage.
