Weekend in Madrid, Spain Itinerary

NYC → Madrid via TAP Portugal (budget – friendly!) ✈️ Scored a window seat and the city views did not disappoint.

Day 1: March 7, 2026

Stayed ilunion hotel – so welcoming, under 15 mins from airport & downtown via uber. Loved lunch at the hotel: local house wine + baked tilapia 🐟, and treated myself to coffee & dairy free ice cream 🍨.

Spanish spring in full bloom 🌸 + dreamy European sunsets 🌅. And honestly, the Madrileños (men) & Madrileñas (women) manners = refreshing vibes I adore!

Experiencing Frida Kahlo: Live Art & Food Tour in Madrid. Immersive rooms with art, projections, and rare photos explore Frida & her husband Diego Rivera, ending with a 5-course Mexican meal. Grateful for this invitation and the chance to see her resilience, shaped by her parent’s influence and life experience.

Excited to continue the journey with the next part of the series in NYC!

Day 2: March 8, 2026

Half a day at Museo Del Prado – no cameras allowed in the exhibits, but unforgettable:

Fancy “Las Meninas by Diego Velázquez” – quietly taking it all in, like glimpsing Spanish royalty without disturbing a moment.

Caught a bit Guyanese love for “The Nude Maja by Francisco Goya” – real woman, maybe the Duchess of Alba. No myth, all drama. 😏

Before heading to the airport, I treated myself at Café Prado: Financier sponge cake and valentia (tender breton butter dough with cinnamon and almond cream). Pure bliss.

Art, history, and  sweet treats – Madrid, you’re doing it right!
