Here is my 6 days itinerary on how I spent my time in Morocco that perhaps could be helpful with planning your visit as well!

Day 1: September 10, 2021
🔶Flew into Casablanca, Morocco from Madrid’s Airport at 12:15 PM.
🔷My host Mohamed Zbair picked me up from the Casablanca Airport.
🔶Had lunch at Rick’s Cafe located in the heart of Casablanca. It’s a fabulous place to relax. If you have seen the movie Casablanca then I think you’ll appreciate this place more. Also met a fellow New Yorker here as well.
🔷Tour Hassan II Mosque; it’s one of the three largest mosques in the world. It’s the only mosque in Morocco that’s open to non Muslims. It’s absolutely beautiful inside and it’s located along the Atlantic Ocean.
🔶Mohamed drove me from Casablanca to Chefchaouen. The drive was about 6 hours. There are many security checkpoints on our way. I felt safe on the roads of Morocco.
🔷Stayed one night at Dar Echchaouen Maison d’hôtes & Riad. I had my private room.
🔶Enjoyed a delicious vegetarian dinner.

Day 2: September 11, 2021
🔶Spent a night at Dar Echchaouen Maison d’hôtes & Riad in Chefchaouen.
🔷Explored the Cefchaouen – the Blue Pearl of Morocco.
🔶Saw lots of blue-tinted houses and cobbled streets with mountainous views.
🔷Passed through the Barrage Sidi Chahed Dam.
🔶Made a stop at Dar El-Makhzen Palace that is where King Mohammed VI of Morocco and his family lives.
🔷Viewed the Medina in Fez, Morocco from the top of a hill.
🔶Fed a few monkeys peanuts on our way to Midelt, Morocco.

Day 3: September 12, 2021
🔶Ride a camel for 90 minutes in the Merzouga – Sahara Desert.
🔷 Stopped at the dunes to see the sunset, a great opportunity to take magical photos of the sunset over the dunes. Too bad the weather was weird that day, but no complaints.
🔶Had dinner and enjoyed the Berber Drums music around a fire camp.
🔷Spent the night at the Merzouga – Sahara Desert’s luxury camp. Such an amazing experience.

Day 4: September 13, 2021
🔶Made a random stop at one of the cafes as we hit the road. I’d loved enjoying Morocco’s yummy coffee.
🔷Explored the Oasis Museum in Ksar El Khorbat. Ksar is made up of walls and inside/behind those walls you can find museums, homes, mosques, schools, stores and etc…
🔶Made a stop at Tinghir. It’s a beautiful city in Morocco that’s known for its Oasis.
🔷Explored the Dades Gorge located in the heart of the High Atlas Mountain. The scenery here is spectacular. It’s definitely a place to visit in Morocco for adventurous souls. The zig zagged roads are dramatic yet beautiful with golden rock formation that indirectly empowers you.
🔶Spent the night at the Citadelle Gorges Airbnb. And had an authentic Moroccan dinner.

Day 5: September 14, 2021
🔶Visited the Hollywood of Africa known as the Atlas Studio located in Ouarzazate, where a lot of famous movies and TV series were filmed:
– Gladiator
– Ben Hur
– Kingdom of Heaven
– The Mummy
– Aladdin
– King Tutt
– The Passion of Christ
🔷Had lunch near the Kasbah
🔶Made a stop at Tizi-n-Tichka situated in the High Atlas Mountains.
🔷Snap some roadside pics with the Atlas Mountains.
🔶On my way to Marrakech, Morocco where I stayed two nights at Hôtel le Caspien.
🔷Had lamb and vegetables Moroccan style for dinner.

Day 6: September 15, 2021
🔶 Visited the Bahia Palace, a haven of shady courtyards and blue mosaic walls built for Ahmed Ben Moussa.
🔷Visited the famous Majorelle gardens
– So French designer Yves Saint Laurent and his partner Pierre Bergé lived here for many years. It was such an honor to explore 1st with a local tour guide then I did a deep dive on my own. I noticed that was a common theme of mine in Morocco.
🔶Explored the extraordinary Medina.
– It’s massive, but I was told this is how the Medinas are structured throughout North Africa.
– It’s made up of 95 unique communities & 19 gates you can used to enter and exit.
– Each community has its own mosque, oven/bakery, school, colorful market, dialect and etc.!
🔷My tips on how to navigate in the Medina:
– Take coins to give the vendors who voluntarily showcase their work. If you stopped and engaged with them it’s good mannerism to show appreciation. Small coins in Morocco goes a long way.
– For women travelers: Walk side by side your guide. I let my guide lead, but I was able to follow his lead quickly without him saying a word. Pay close attention to the locals body languages.
– Go with a tour guide so you don’t get lost (Actually I’d knew this beforehand from a leader at work)
– People watch in one of the cafe. Haha! I think this is a great way get a front row seat/visual of how things flow in the Medina!
🔶 Visited the Museum of Marrakesh
🔷Enjoyed dinner at Hôtel le Caspien.
🔶My flight was the following morning and I flew out of Marrakech’s airport.
