Because I love the capital of my country, the United States so much…you can find me escaping NYC to DC frequently. There is so much to do in DC that it would be a rush to actually enjoy what this beautiful city offers in one day.
How to plan an affordable day trip from NYC to Washington, DC?
- It’s super inexpensive to travel by bus from NYC to DC. I’d recommend booking either through Flixbus or GoBus. I was able to snag a one way ticket from NYC (midtown) for $17 and coming back was $2.44 through Flixbus.
- Also, I’d recommend traveling early in the morning between 5AM or 6AM so in that way you can have a full day to enjoy.
Keep in mind the ride is 4.5 hours each way.
What to do in DC?
There is so much to do in DC from museum hopping, touring various memorial parks such as Abraham Lincoln, Dr. Martin Luther King and George Washington monument & the three branches – executive, judicial and legislative and the list goes on…
This time around I received tickets from my job to visit the National Museum of African American History and Culture located on National Mall, that’s where you can find a stretch of all the museums…
Please be mindful and do your research before visiting the museums to determine if you need to reserve tickets in advance.
After that, I took a walk to George Washington’s monument that’s literally across the street from National Museum of African American History and Culture. Then I walked about 15 minutes or less to pay my respect to Abraham’s Lincoln Memorial.
