From airport to hotel, a local Kenyan taxi driver taught me how to say welcome (Karibu) and thank you (Asante) – simple moments that stick.
Stayed one night at Best Western Premier Westlands, about 15 minutes from the airport, in a vibrant Indian diaspora community (people of Indian heritage living outside India while maintaining cultural ties). As a Guyanese 🇬🇾, I could really relate to the shared diaspora experience.

Caught a soft Nairobi sunset followed by a light rain – peaceful and grounding.
Ended with an authentic Asian-Kenyan meal and a classic Tusker beer and tea.

A private afternoon adventure with a local guide, Joseph from Viator, at Nairobi National Park was both thrilling and memorable.

“Let’s take a selfie first; this is one of the only safe spots in the park where you can step out of the vehicle,” said Joseph, smiling with me.

What a journey. There’s nothing like watching animals in their natural habitat in magical Kenya and hearing the sounds of wildlife all around made it even more surreal.
We were lucky to spot buffalo, impalas, crocodile, zebras, ostriches, giraffes, rhinos, lion, and even a grey bird with a mouse in its mouth.

My first mini safari was truly charming and satisfying. Riding through the park in an open top vehicle, surrounded by nature’s beauty, scent, and sounds, was simply incredible.
Asante (thank you!), Kenya, for a great time!
